Born in 1957 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
Director, scriptwriter, producer.
Regular participant of leading Russian and international festivals; diploma from the 50th Berlin IFF (1998, ORATOR), winner of the Festival of Asian Cinema in Vesoul (2004, THE SHEPHERD), winner at several Kinoshock festivals. His SHAME (2013) received the FIPRESCI award at the 48th IFF in Karlovy Vary and won many others. One of his latest films KEROSENE (2019), featured in the program of the Pacific Meridian, won, among other awards, several awards of Russian Guild of Film Critics.
