His first three documentary features, THE MOON PALACE (2006), MADAME (2010), MY MOTHER’S RHAPSODY (2011) were selected for ‘Best Ten Documentaries of the Year’ at the China Independent Film Festival.
His experimental documentary feature, MR. ZHANG BELIEVES (2015) premiered in Locarno. His first fiction film, A NEW OLD PLAY (2021), has been presented at film festivals internationally, and received the Special Jury Prize at the 74th Locarno Film Festival.
